KOLKATA: A real estate developer and resident of Bangur, who has been receiving threat calls on his mobile phone for the past 20 days from three unknown numbers used by the same caller, lodged a complaint with the CID on Tuesday.
The caller, who identified himself alternatively as Manish and Benoy, apparently knows everything about Mahendra Agarwal's family.
He used the numbers 301, 381 and 20393.
"The caller tells me he is calling from Mumbai and claims to have met me several times. He says he knows everything about me and my business, the number of times I have changed my office and even claims to have information about my son and wife," said Agarwal.
When Agarwal (42) asked why he was calling repeatedly, the caller merely told him that he was simply seeking information about Agarwal and that he would meet him soon. "You've had your good times. Your bad times will come now," the caller threatened.
The caller also wanted to speak to Agarwal's wife. "He asked for my wife's mobile number. When I refused, he blurted out her number correctly. When I asked for his number, he merely said he would meet me soon and give his number," Agarwal said.
"I have no idea how the person knows so many things about me and my family," Agarwal added. However, the mysterious caller neither threatened to kill Agarwal nor asked for money.
Agarwal first went to Lake Town police, but they did not pay much heed. After lodging a general diary, Agarwal went to CID and lodged a complaint. The CID has started a probe and posted personnel for his security.
